look! he’s using chopsticks!

March 7, 2008

He is European, I am Asian.

Whenever he skips lunch to drive our kid or me to hospitals or parties, etc. I would pack him food which he can eat in the office when he gets back. One time I packed him noodles and included wooden chopsticks. Guess what? His officemates teased him that I forced him to use chopsticks instead of fork. Yada! I’m not Chinese, I eat with spoon and fork. The irony is, he’s the one who taught me to use the sticks.

Anyway, I bought some colorful chopsticks couple of weeks ago while shopping. Haven’t got the chance to use this yet. I wonder what his office mates will say when they see this:

flying discs – a cheap way to have fun

March 3, 2008

Weekend drifted quickly. We weren’t even able to do some serious shopping except for this week’s food supply. Nonetheless, I was able to pick what would be a fun game to play in beaches or any wide open spaces; flying discs! Summer is fast approaching and beaches will be the famous hang-out, I took the chance to grab few pieces.

For only a little over $1 USD, kids and adults will have a grand time running and catching these flying discs. It’ll be a good exercise for the limbs too. Get one for yourself or your kids! It’s a cheap way of having fun!

let’s go shopping for winter clothing!

February 29, 2008

Now is the best time to go shopping for next winter’s clothing! Why? Coz most stores are having sale and discounts on their winter stocks. They want to dispose of these products as much as possible coz winter’s going to end soon and they also want to sell new products next time.

This weekend I’ll be malling to check out the shops and see if I can grab some nice jackets or coats which I can use for this year’s cold days. Why don’t you share with me your shopping finds and escapades too?

weekend shopping at Ikea

February 27, 2008

We were at Ikea last weekend to buy some baby stuff. Of course I couldn’t help but buy few pieces of OTHER stuff for the house, to make the trip worth it coz it’s actually located far from where we live.

Before heading home, we decided to eat in their cafeteria as our tummies were already grumbling. There were plenty of high chairs for infants, so we were able to eat comfortably while the little one was having a grand time in her throne. But before that we had a little problem to tackle before settling to eat. The dad left the diaper bag where I stashed a canister filled with crackers for the little one. I looked at our ordered food of meatballs with french fries and the dad’s fried cheese, sadly those weren’t good for the baby. Achhhh and there she was, all eager to eat! What I did was mashed the french fries for the baby to munch or else we won’t have peace!

One surprising deal we got when paying for the food was that the second order came for free! We only paid less than $10 for the bottomless drinks, medovnik (honey cake)for dessert and two food set.

One last plus is that they have a small private corner where moms can breastfeed the baby. I gave baby a quick feeding before we left. We all went home satisfied. :)

how long will baby toys last?

February 26, 2008

The old Chicco toy.

It all depends on the kind of toy.  The toy above, would you believe is already 30 years old?  It belongs to my better half when he was a baby.  His mom kept it all these years! Our little one has inherited her dad’s toy from decades ago!   The toy was made by Chicco.  Wow, that makes me wonder how long has Chicco been in the toy business.

Anyway last Christmas, my baby got a Chicco rattle from her uncle.  It’s really durable.  I wonder if it will also last for years and if I can still hand it down to my grandchild in the future.

This she got last Christmas.
